There are clear links between many aspects of the health and wellbeing agenda and community safety. Substance misuse (whether drugs or alcohol) is strongly linked to both crime and anti-social behaviour. Substance misuse can make some people more vulnerable and therefore at risk of becoming victims of crime. Parental substance misuse can have a significant impact on he welfare of children and young people
The aim is for stakeholders to work together to reduce and prevent the alcohol related harms that people might experience within their lifetime. This will be achieved by encouraging responsible drinking and positive behaviour. By providing those who are driving at risky and harmful levels with the right information, effective support and treatment, alcohol related harm will be reduced.
Within York we commission holistic drug and alcohol services to encourage, support and empower individuals to take control of their lives and minimise the harm caused by drug and alcohol misuse.
